Milestones Summary

1. Team Development and Project Planning

   • Assigned team roles and responsibilities for the next four weeks of the project
      

2. Problem Definition & Initial Research

   • Research and document pertinent information from online sources and invited guests (including nurses, doctors, ostomy patients)​

   • Define a solution-neutral need statement for our client

   • List objectives and constraints of our design
      

3. Conceptual Design

   • Generate a preliminary list of ideas for addressing the need statement (individual)​

   • Conduct preliminary research of the medical device with reference to a specific design dimension

   • Compile research and collaborate to generate a minimum of two concept solutions

     • Discuss the advantages / disadvantages of each​
        

4. Preliminary Design

   • Choose one or a combination of the previously generated concept solutions to pursue further

   • Describe clearly the form and function, fabrication, assembly, and device/user interaction of the solution

   • Outline the specifications of a preliminary prototype, including:​​

     • Modifications to existing medical device​

     • What materials the prototype will be made out of
